Create a Welcoming Front Porch

A welcoming front porch can give your house that added look it needs. No matter the size of your porch you can achieve the look you want. From small changes and decor you can turn your plain front porch into the talk of the town. And one feature you don't want to skip out on is your front porch lighting.

An entryway that can change with the seasons or a porch that can suit your style all year round is easy. Follow our advise and get that look you want to make your house pop.

1. Get a Doormat

The quick and easy way to create a welcoming porch is a nice door mat. A simple and clean door mat is not only functional it sets the atmosphere for what to expect inside your home. Pick up a new one at a retail store or Amazon, then get moving onto the next step.

2. Decorate for the Season

A fun and always changing way to enhance the look of your porch is to decorate for the seasons or the holidays. So throw a wreath or two up there.

If you have the room, a chair or bench with decorative pillows that corresponds with the season or holiday is also a great way to add interest to your porch. For that extra flair, add a potted plant or tree.

Sometimes less is more. Make sure your decorations frame your front door but don't look cluttered. Make sure to step back every once in awhile to see if everything makes sense and looks good.

3. Paint Your Door

A new coat of paint or a bold pop of color can brighten up your porch and exterior. If you're going with color, be sure it doesn't clash too much with the siding and the rest of the neighborhood.

Just remember when painting a door to remove or tape off hardware like hinges, windows and door knobs. Another option is to replace the hardware.

4. Change Out Your Light Fixtures

To tie it all together, your front porch should have updated and beautiful Decorative Exterior light fixtures. A new lantern, flush mount, or pendant is not only aesthetically pleasing, but also energy-efficient and functional.

Marvel Lighting has an amazing selection of exterior lights to elevate your front porch look. Some of our favorites are the Mission Beach Pendant by Troy and the Austen Lantern by Nuvo.
